Stupid Animals

These were two animal concepts for a scene in the short film "Noggin" I worked on.

Drunk Shark

For some reason I drew an image of a drunk shark in my sketchbook a few years ago.

Maverik Squirrel

Here is an animation I just did today of a squirrel. The squirrel is supposed to be running off with a hogie, but it hasn't been added yet. Still a tomato is seen falling off at the end. I tried to get some good exaggerated action and I think it turned out ok.

Popeye the Sailor: 1933-1938, Vol. 1

This looks to be one of the best classic cartoon releases on DVD, and definately the best release of "Popeye the Sailor" so far. The cleanup looks really nice, and the quality looks preserved. The line work looks great and seems to maintain it's thick and thin strokes that made the characters so pleasing to look at in the first place. With lots of extra features including "Out of the Inkwell" shorts, commentaries by Jerry Beck and John Krisfalusi, Behind-the-toons featurettes, it looks like money well spent.

Check out these screen caps at Jerry Becks "Cartoon Research" Website.

Buy the DVD here.

Find out more on the History of "Popeye" including the original comic that inspired the animation, and the Stereoptical Process.

John Krisfalusi's "Popeye Rules"-John K provides some great insight and observations on Popeye.

The Morocan

This is another character for "Broken Crown". This is just a taste of what we will have at Comic-Con 2007. I will be with 8fish at booth #5230.

Stilleto

This is another character for "Broken Crown". The character design was concepted by Merril Brandon and the finished illustration was done by me.

Slobber Monster

Just another one of my fat, hairy, and grotesque musings.

Lobo and Risley Character

Here's another character for "Lobo and Risley". Based on one of my favorite singers Cab Calloway.

Smoking Lady

Loosly based on a lady I passed at a mall.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game

Just some fat doofus I drew.

Guy At Church

This is just some guy I drew from church who was sitting up on the stand.

Vampire Lamb Michael Caine

If you've ever wondered what Michael Caine might look like as a vampire lamb...well...here you go.

Angry Man Sketch

I will post random works of art mostly, but here is something I just drew. Just for kicks.

Lobo and Risley

This is a property my wife and I collaberated on a few years ago that was pitched to WB. It wasn't taken but I'm still in love with it enough to work on an animated short based on these two characters. Here are some character sketches.

Flying Fat Man

I came up with this character a long time ago and have decided to do a quick illustration of him. Most of my future posts will feature work in progress or just simple sketches.
